Our Story
We started We Put Up Lights Inc. some 6 years ago. He had a van, a couple of ladders, and there were two of us. The whole idea came to us after doing a big Christmas light display at home, and all the neighbors asked if we could do the same for them.
We made flyers, and delivered them door to door, in well to do areas, and to our excitement, landed a large number of jobs in a matter of days. Actually too many jobs for the two of us to handle!
The next season we were out there with a rented cherry picker, and a crew of about 7 guys, and made a big go of things. It worked out great! We ordered in a huge amount of lights, got all the paperwork in order, and we landed shopping malls, restaurants, movie companies, plus all of the residential clients.
Since then, we've gotten serious. We built a hosted business management system for our website, and spent a lot of time in the off season perfecting it. This system is now the backbone of our business.
All of our estimates, client lists, invoices, mailings, products, inventory etc, are online and linked up to each other, making the management of the company extremely easy.
Now we are #1 on google under the search heading "christmas light installers" among others. We have calls for lights to be installed from all around the world, and we're capeable of assigning any installer in the world an account on the system. This gives potential installers the chance to cash in our popularity. As people all over the place contact us looking to have our lights installed, we can feed the installer the lead, and help with the quoting process, as well as the method, via phone or e-mail.
